Trauma Treatment: Trauma is when one experiences a deeply distressing or upsetting event or witnesses this event happening to others. Whether you are the victim of childhood abuse, sexual assault, or have been traumatized through medical interventions, health issues, accidents, disasters or war, you may be struggling with how to make sense of what happened and how to move forward in your life. If you have survived trauma, you may find yourself reliving the past in intense ways, feel overwhelming fear, shame or anger or suffer from nightmares or sleeping difficulties. Some people cope by becoming detached and numb or may begin to isolate, become depressed or very anxious. If you need help to overcome trauma, counseling can help you deal with the overwhelming thoughts and feelings related to your past and help you move towards a healthier and happier life.

Anxiety and Stress: Stress and anxiety can affect our ability to sleep and to enjoy life. Many people find they are unable to turn off their thoughts or “get out of their head”. Some have excessive fears and thoughts of bad things that might happen in the future. Others experience panic, are unable to concentrate or have sleep disturbances. Do you find yourself unable to enjoy life or is your worrying getting in the way of finding joy and peace? Through psychotherapy, you can learn to recognize the signs of anxiety or dysfunctional thinking and develop healthier coping strategies. For some people, past relationships, self-esteem, or dysfunctional families may play a role in their anxiety and counseling can help identify issues that may be fueling anxiety and help you recognize and change dysfunctional patterns in thinking and responding.

Grief Counseling: Losing a loved one can bring about overwhelming pain and sorrow or it can leave people feeling numb and lost. Perhaps you can’t stop thinking about the death of your loved one or need help with some unresolved issues related to your loss. If you are feeling stuck, unable to move forward in your life or need to work through some issues related to your loss, counseling can help.
